Hello friends and family!
After several years of fighting it, I’ve decided to join the world of blogging Expats.
For those who don’t know, I’ve been living in Geithain, Germany since September and going to school for my MA degree in American/Transatlantic Studies at Unversität Leipzig. So far, I’ve been really enjoying it, and my first semester is winding down.

Thankfully, the program is as good as I hoped it would be, and people seem to have accepted my American-presence. In fact, I have all but stopped having conversations like the following…
“Wait… You’re an American?”
“Yes.”
“Studying American Studies?”
“Correct.”
“In Germany????”
Long sigh…“Yes.”
On good days, I then go on to explain how important and unique the critical distance is that I gain to the subject matter… but usually, I must admit, I’m content to give one-word answers that leave my conversation-partners in their original states of confusion.
Okay that’s all for now. More to come!

Ha ha that’s so funny, I’ve had the same conversation soooo many times about being German and studying German in the US. And I agree, one word answers are the best solution!
